Facebook allows multiple users to administer Ad Accounts

Finally Facebook has decided to stop crippling its ability to generate revenue in the real world by allowing multiple users to administer an ad campaign.  No longer is a critical part of your marketing tied inexorably to either personal accounts of people at your agency or a shared account which breaks the terms of use.

In typical FB style, this feature is exceptionally well hidden under Ads and Pages | Settings

You can add either a General User which allows them to spend money or Reports Only which is perfect for clients.
If you haven't tried FB Ads, now is the time - here's what a test campaign report looks like ...

YouTube releases outbound links in videos

Up until recently you could only create annotation links to other YouTube videos - now if you have a commercial channel or are part of the Nonprofit Program you can link out to anywhere you like.

How to quickly put together an iPhone app

Admit it, you've dreamed of having your very own iPhone app but perhaps can't quite justify the expense.  One of my favourite web services companies widgetbox has just made it so much easier.  You can add content from your blog, RSS feed, twitter feed, photos, videos, maps, polls and even custom html content.

Okay so it's not technically an app and it is a little slow to load but it will let you quickly prove whether your value proposition resonates with your audience since. It took me 20 minutes to put together an app which pulled together existing content from various sources. Did I mention it has build in metrics?

Check it out and let me know what you think ... http://www.widgetbox.com/mobile/make/

Hibernate your Mac

Macs go to sleep when you close the lid but still take battery power.  This DeepSleep widget puts your computer into hibernation, where all the RAM is copied to disk and no power is required.  It's great for resuming where you left off if it's going to be a while.

Customise the Mac OS X Login Screen

I think the login screen for OS X is pretty lame - here's how to change it to your liking ...

Launch the terminal and issue the following commands:

  • cd /System/Library/CoreServices
  • sudo mv DefaultDesktop.jpg DefaultDesktop_org.jpg
  • sudo cp /path/of/image.jpg DefaultDesktop.jpg
